My 2019 New Year's Resolutions
Can you even believe that New Year's has already come and gone? NewYear’s Day is like the international day of hangovers and goal setting. As a big self improvement enthusiast, I never pass up an opportunity to reflect and plot my course. I make resolutions every year, and I really believe in the practice. I even make a vision board every January to help me stay focused throughout the year.
I wanted to share with you all a few of my resolutions for the New Year. New Year resolutions can be tricky. Striving for a goal that you know you will never achieve can ultimately make you feel down about yourself, but it is also important to reach for obtainable goals that challenge you to be a better person and put you on the right path for fulfilling your passions and your dreams. It's difficult to find that perfect middle ground, and if you don't achieve your goals I am here to tell you that it is OKAY. Working hard to better yourself will ultimately pay off, whether that happens in 2019 or 2020. I find that reading other people's resolutions and ambitions inspire me to achieve my own, and I hope that this post will do the same for you.
Live a healthy lifestyle I did a whole lot in my 20s; traveling, moving, working all kinds of different jobs. I’ll tell you what I didn’t do: look out for my health. Ever since I stopped playing college tennis I’ve only been casually working out. I’ve been completely inconsistent. I don’t know if I was just burned out from a lifetime of pushing my physical limits, or simply unmotivated without a team surrounding me. Regardless, it’s been about 10 years since I stopped playing tennis competitively. I think it’s time to move past that and take my health and fitness seriously. Get financially fit A few things have fallen into place this year from jobs to an incredibly affordable apartment that has set my husband and me up to pay off debt and do some pretty substantial saving WHILE still traveling and enjoying our daily lives. There is no better time for us than right now to get financially fit. I believe strongly in the stewardship of whatever you are given in life; whether that’s a lot or a little, monetary or otherwise. 3. Give! Not only do I want to save and pay off debt, but I also want to begin consistently giving to charity. I began to a bit in the last few months of this year. At first, I was afraid I’d miss the money, and regret it. But there is nothing like having the ability to give back. I’m entering 2019 with a plan to give! Let me tell you, nothing stirs up gratitude in your own heart like giving to others, no matter how small. 4. Write write write! 2018 was the year that I finally started blogging! It hasn’t always been consistent, and it’s yet to be lucrative. But I love it! I’m so happy that I started doing it this year, and I can’t wait to continue in 2019. Not only do I want to write consistently but I want to write things that help you. Whether it’s small bits of encouragement or some simple tips on how to style your hair. I’m really here to help you. 5. Read read read! Reading is like going to the gym; one of those habits I love, feel great when I do, but easily fall out of due to being “too busy”. I also know that reading is the greatest inspiration to write more. Send me all your self-improvement suggestions, because that’s my favorite type of books to read!
